Time for a break, you deserve it.
As we come closer to the end of the year, we would like to thank you for all that you do for the community. It’s been tough trying to fundraise, organise events, and keep the doors to your organisation open.
Hopefully the new year will have us back doing things more face to face, but with Covid and lockdowns, we have all had to learn where to find our computer microphone and camera settings. We’ve all the heard the “have you got your microphone turned on” more than once!
Who knew you could work from home and attend an online annual general meeting with a cat on your lap and be able to check the slow cooker at lunch time?
This has been a positive as we’ve experienced the benefits of online meetings and learning.
Just this year alone we have hosted 22 online workshops on topics like grant and tender writing, governance, strategic planning and running meetings.
And thanks to your financial support through memberships, our social enterprise has reinvested back into creating over 50 new resources to the library.
We’d like to thank our partner organisations who helped provide training to their communities across Australia from the NSW south coast, to Queensland to Western Australia.
So switch off, take a break, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2022.

Changes to user access
Sharing logins and brute force attacks
81% of data breaches happen due to poor password security (Source SoS Daily News)
With cyber security something we all need to be aware of nowadays, one of the risks we are addressing is the sharing passwords and multiple logins. We are taking a step forward to addressing this risk by locking out multiple logins, too many login attempts and password sharing. This not only helps with the users own online security, but also helps us protect against brute force attacks. This change is part of one of our ongoing cyber security measures.

On the road again…
We’ve had a great few week, the back in the community, helping some wonderful organisations with customised training.
We’ve impacted 76 community groups this month across NSW and QLD, helping them govern, fund and strengthen their organisations.
We held sessions on governance and grant writing which were well received with 96% saying they recommend our governance training and 100% recommending the grant writing training.
*Happy Dance* We’re so pleased to have helped these groups. We had a lot of lovely comments and feedback (we won’t bore you with them 😉 ) but couldn’t resist sharing this one “Feedback and comments were incredibly positive.
Participants were blown away with the content, the quality of the presentation and the presenter herself, Natalie Bramble”

Governance 101 Workshop
Every organisation wants to make a difference, but internal issues distract us. If you’re wanting to start-up; review or refresh your organisation and think about how to instil good governance practices and culture, then this session is for you. Short, snappy webinars of 1/2 hour each, held over two sessions and yes, on a Saturday to help all those great volunteers outside working hours!5 Top tips on How to Run an Effective Meeting
Do your meetings start or finish late? Do people talk over one another? Are previous minutes, reports, and other relevant documents available to read. If your meetings aren’t well run, people may stop attending, not participate or add value during in meetings, or not feel valued.
Well run meetings can help with: board and committee retention, keep members and volunteers informed, stay on track of important financial and legal issues, and make meetings enjoyable instead of a chore.
We’ve Been Busy
It’s been a big month and the work we’re doing in the community is so exciting.
We’ve delivered fundraising; governance and grant writing training sessions for community groups and we were so chuffed to get this great feedback from the City of Sydney who hosted a few webinar sessions for their community.
We just love to hear the difference we’re making to community groups and this was one of the highlight responses the council team shared with us “I have written 100’s of grants. I have learned more in the last 2 hours, I cannot believe it. Thank you so much” Awww… this is the stuff that makes us continue our purpose to deliver you relevant, practical learning that makes a real difference!
