The Western NSW Business Awards were held on July 22, 2022, at a gala event at Dubbo Taronga Zoo. These awards recognise growth, entrepreneurship and celebrate business success from across the Central West, Orana, and Far West regions.

iClick2Learn were proud to win in two categories: Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion, and Employer of Choice.

Diversity and Inclusion

iClick2Learn win Diversity and Inclusion at Western Business Award NSW

When accepting the award, Digaj Basukala said:

“It is a huge honour for me to receive this award on behalf of the iClick2learn team for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion. I am deeply honoured for this recognition of our work.

No matter where you are from, which language you speak, iClick2Learn welcomes and celebrates all cultures and festivals. We believe in unity in diversity.

I would like to thank the team for their incredible effort. The award became reality only because of team dedication and hard work.”

Inclusion and equity is a key strategic pillar for iClick2Learn. We plan for it. It’s part of our DNA.

We take action to remove barriers replacing systems and structures that enable individual perspectives, lived experiences, abilities and opinions.

A few examples of how we have implemented inclusion and equity and into our team culture are:

  • Team expectations discussion allows for people to express how they personally and culturally prefer to work with, receive information and/or contribute to discussions.
  • We actively seek opinions and perspectives from our diverse team.
  • We recognise and celebrate our unique differences 
  • We actively promote a strengths-based, flexible working model that makes adjustments to suit the needs of our team.

When developing and creating content and training resources, we consider inclusion and equity every step of the way. 

Some examples of this include:

  • Consider literacy, education, vision, hearing, and cognitive impairments when developing learning materials.
  • Captioning all videos which is an additional cost.
  • Using visual descriptor language, explaining what is on the screen when referring to a specific image, table, or diagram.
  • Considering font size, colour contrast, language when developing resources.
  • Proactively sourcing presenters to represent our diverse community members. 
  • Investing resources and time to create custom animated characters showing diversity in physical ability, age demographics, gender identification, and cultural and linguistic diversity

Employer of Choice

iClick2Learn win Employer of Choice at Western Business Award NSW

When accepting the award, Kellie Jennar said: 

I’m incredibly proud to accept this award on behalf of iClick2Learn. iClick2Learn operates as a sociocracy, which means, all team members, their ideas, and their voice are treated equally. Which is why, as a staff member, I’m collecting this award on behalf of the team, not the owners or CEO.

iClick2Learn is one of those organisations who walk the walk, not just talk the talk. They are genuine when they say all team members are equal, that they want to hear and discuss your ideas, and encourage you to grow and learn.

I love working at iClick2Learn because of this positive and nurturing culture.”

As a values based organisation, iClick2Learn cultivates a workplace culture where our team members love to be. When people are happier, their engagement in their work; productivity and quality of work is also better.

Our social enterprise deliberately creates the systems and structures to build an environment where people can be themselves and say what they think. At the heart of our communication is intention. If we all demonstrate we have the best intention of delivering a better outcome for our clients and our team, then what we bring to the team helps all. 

We wanted to make sure as our team grew, that this healthy, positive culture sustained change. This is why we created our well-being framework. Some key principles of our well-being framework includes the team being: 

  • encouraged to ‘be’ themselves at work without any judgement
  • supported in a mental health safe workplace
  • Contributing opinions and challenging ideas, without fear of repercussions
  • being empowered, not micromanaged
  • assured they have the autonomy to make decisions about their own welfare needs. Knowing they can express these openly and seek support from the team
  • able to have open discussions and address any miscommunication or misinterpretation at the time
  • able to set working expectations with others so they know what you need and how you need to hear / see it and vice versa

These principles and others have helped to build a healthy, creative and innovative culture. We are proud of all the resources and hard work we have invested in creating a positive, safe, inclusive, and diverse workplace.

iClick2Learn will now compete against the best from across New South Wales at the 2022 State Business Awards on Friday 26 November.
